The elegance, lifestyle and legendary apartments of the great icons of New York's high-society are the spring / summer 2015/6 inspirations of Atelier Sandro Barros. Naming the 740 Park Avenue collection, the stylist began her journey in the history of these fabulous women from the eponymous bestseller, which tells the story of the famous Upper East Side building, built in 1930 by the architect Rosario Candela and the man James T. Lee, the grandfather of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Since then, the building has been the address of families such as Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Bouvier, Chrysler, Niarchos, Houghton and Harkness, who helped build the mythical city that is considered the capital of the world.
"There is nothing as cosmopolitan as a New Yorker, who built her unique identity as an amalgam of cultures," says Sandro. "I wanted to pay homage from ladies-who-lunch, like C.Z. Guest, Babe Paley, Jackie herself, Truman Capote Swans, El Morocco nightclubs, and those who danced until morning on the Studio 54 track like Marisa Berenson. And why not, the girls of today who make their mark on the Tribeca art galleries and the Metropolitan galas. "
The rich 3D embroideries of the dresses evoke the 1960's optical graphics, now the work of decorator Howard Slatkin, with its sharp look and precision in the smallest details, as we can see in the book 5th Avenue Style. "In it, more is more. I created black and gold dresses and robes that resemble the Chinese and Japanese screens that the Americans adore, and even a colorful line embroidery that reproduces the motifs of Companhia das Indias tableware used in the large private dinners that always move the city. "
Short dresses printed in duchesse, zibeline and perfumed brocades 60's divide the macaws with mousseline dresses, crepe and silver and gold overalls with fringed glass and crystals, reinforcing the festive vocation of New York. "A series of reds pays tribute to Diana Vreeland, the woman who took the glamor of the city to the last consequences and gave the fashion to the art," says Sandro. "I wanted to rescue in this collection the essence of the true vocation of couture, to create clothes for every occasion, a gala, a wedding, but also a cocktail, a lunch. It is a complete wardrobe for women who are first ladies, in the most contemporary sense of the word. "
The collection was photographed by Peu Campos. The models Tatiana Dumenti and Angelica Sulzbach were made by Ney Garcia and Mitiko hairstyles. They used jewelry Izabel Esteves, Ara Vartanian, Silvia Furmanovich and Amsterdam Sauer. Accessories Alexandre Birman, Isla, Hector Albertazzi and Cris Senna complete the styling.
