Sandro Barros launches "Savannah" Collection
A traveler curious and interested in the places where she goes and who adds in the wardrobe a little of everything she saw is the muse imagined by the stylist Sandro Barros for his new collection of spring / summer 2019.
Called "Savannah", the pieces are not restricted to the African savannah. "In fact, the savannah is the starting point of this trip, because I thought of a woman who is going to discover Africa for the first time as a tourist and ends up falling in love with the continent in such a way that she can not return. And I even allowed her to stretch out in India, in the prints of the tigers, representing the Indian savannas, "says Sandro.
The biggest inspiration, he said, was the novel "The Afrikanske Farm" by Danish Baroness Karen Blixen, best known by the pseudonym Isak Dinesen. The play, which chronicles the period in which she lived in Kenya in the 1920s, served as the basis for one of the film's greatest hits, "Out of Africa," starring Merryl Streep and Robert Redford .
Natural fiber fabrics, such as linen, cotton and silk, and bone and mother-of-pearl buttons share space with leather and chamois to create the safari looks that overflow the colorful landscapes, beige Safari and Ivory to Khaki, through earthy tones like the Caramel, Capuccino and Clay. In this part, Sandro makes his debut in tailoring, in the forms of long blazers with utility pockets and cotton and linen suits. "It's a more straight tailoring, which contrasts with skirts, pants and dresses, which are wider and more fluid," explains Sandro.
References to the African scrapbooks of photographer Peter Beard in the 1970s also permeate the collection, which runs through the Masai and Congolese cultures, taking an ethnic footprint. They are prints and embroideries of graphic patterns, embroidered t-shirts with frosted and colorful tribal stones. Another novelty is the use of the jersey in sexy dresses. "The climate here is one of adventure", summarizes the stylist.
