Fundamental work of Russian literature and immortalized in the opera by Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky (1879), “Eugene Onegin”, by Alexandre Pushkin (1832), is the starting point of the Atelier Sandro Barros autumn / winter 2020 collection.
– Actually, my inspiration is the heroine of the novel, Tatyana, who deserved to have named the book for the strength of her determination. She was different from all other “young ladies” of the romances of the time, in rejecting her great love after being dismissed by him - says the stylist, who toured the Russian countryside, outside Moscow, to create the collection. - The book also speaks of the contrast between the Europeanized conventions of the tsarist court and the genuine spontaneity experienced by Tatyana when living in the countryside of deep Russia. In this environment, I focused a lot on the paintings of Russian women artists, such as Zenaida Serebriakova and Natalia Goncharova.
From the rural youth of Tatyana come the voluminous sleeves of the satin dresses with curved skirts and the blouses whose embroideries reproduce the designs of Pávlovski Possad shawls. A skirt features flowers that refer to Khokhloma wood painting and Zhostovo trays. The white shirts make an interpretation of the Vologda lace motifs in Nature, with handmade beads embroidering. Coats and dresses embroidered with crystal webs over a blue fade evoke the country's country landscape under the clear sky.
– The party dresses are reminiscent of the arrival of young Tatyana in Moscow, when she marries a noble. At the same time that she adopts dress codes for her new reality, in languid silhouettes and in more elaborate props, she does not give up to honor her origins, forming hybrid pieces - sums up Sandro.
EAnd a midi skirt rounded in layers with crystal flakes appears, shoulder-to-shoulder dresses with floral brocade, a top and skirt embroidered with silver and gold sequins that refer to the interior of orthodox cathedrals, in addition to powerful velvet looks black with pearls and golden embroidery and ruby that recall the motifs of the kokoshniks tiaras. To top it off, a series of exuberant shades, such as royal blue, pink and coral represent the colorful palaces of St. Petersburg.
