Atelier Sandro Barros launches new collection Persepolis
Farah Diba, Iran's xabanu for nearly 20 years and a fashion icon in the 1960s and 1970s, is Sandro Barros's great inspiration for her spring 2019 collection. Between dresses with crystal bodice with lightly embroidered English tulle skirts and sequins, structured taffeta covers with lace and long languid that enhance the feminine silhouette, the collection brings as a novelty the Calais lace patchworks and point-d'esprit tulle.
“This time, I went in search of lightness, eliminating the liners and exploring the transparencies,” says Sandro. "From Farah Diba came the embroidery in Paisley and the designs of his striking jewelry, which subtly declined in the weaves of the pieces."
Sandro also created a crown-inspired T-shirt created for Farah Diba in 1967 by Van Cleef & Arpels, when she became the first empress of modern-day Iran. In pink poudrée, black and color versions, the pieces can be customized by clients with embroidery specially created for the launch, which takes place Thursday, 8th, with a lecture about Farah Diba by Bruno Astuto.
