Hearing the first recording of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, starring the French-Italian soprano Gina Cigna in 1938, Sandro Barros looked at the influence of Chinese culture in the Hollywood films of the 1930s for his fall / winter 2017 collection, Turandot '. The aesthetics of filmmaker Wong Kar-wai ("Happy Together", "Marlene Dietrich") and the costumes of Marlene Dietrich in the Shanghai Express classic and actress Anna May Wong, the first Asian descendant to succeed in American cinema, served as inspiration for hand-embroidered dresses. p>
"Wong overcame racism in Hollywood and was driven by his talent. Before her, the directors climbed white actresses who imitated the Chinese, so she really was a pioneer, in addition to having a real-life glamorous behavior, "says Sandro. p>
The launching cocktail of the collection, which will take place on the 9th, will surprise the public: the choir and orchestra Allegro, by maestro Renato Misiuk, will perform Turandot's 'Nessun Dorma' and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Henrique Martins Street, in Jardim Paulista, in front of Sandro's atelier. "Until June, the Allegro will bring classical music to the street; it was a gift that we decided to give to Jardim Paulista, a neighborhood that welcomed us so well in São Paulo, to start celebrating the five years of Atelier, "says Renata Queiroz de Moraes, CEO of the brand. p>
The "Turandot" collection features 30 unique dresses made with classic fabrics and traditional French Haute Couture techniques, many silk embroidery, fringed, and embroidered with mixtures of Swarovski crystals and colored beads created from porcelain designs, carpets and the walls of Chinese palaces. The contrasts of colors are quite pronounced: navy blue with beige, cherry with gold, nude with orange, caramel with pink and green. The silhouette comes very languid, in column dresses in the bias to the taste of the 30s. Highlight for the short bolero of high collar and richly structured, embroidered with aquamarine crystals, silver and turquoise with designs of chrysanthemums and that combines blue-sky silk crepe pant. p>
The photos and the film of the campaign were made by top photographer and director Peu Campos in cinematographic climate, narrating a love story seasoned with five-perfumes-Chinese, whiskey and aromas of jasmine, cinnamon and pepper. p>
